The Argentinian Academy of Film Arts and Science has awarded Lucrecia Martel's The Headless Woman with three Sur prizes (out of 11 nominations); including best film, best director and best original script in Buenos Aires on Monday.
Veteran Leonardo Favio's musical Aniceto won all eight categories in which it was nominated. The renowned filmmaker self-excluded himself from the best film and best direction categories before the gala because of a disagreement with the Academy.
The local Academy, comprised of 275 renowned professionals also named Oscar Martinez as best actor for his work in Daniel Burman's Empty Nest and Valeria Bertuccelli as best actress for her work in the romantic comedy A Boyfriend For My Wife.
