Korean hit toon 'Leafie' sells to Italy

Sales co. Finecut intros two new titles at AFM


South Korean animated feature "Leafie" was nabbed by Mediterranea Productions for Italian territories at Rome Film Festival's Business Street.

Seoul-based sales house Finecut announced that the pic will be released on more than 50 screens in Italy with Italian dubbing. The highest grossing Korean toonpic ever, "Leafie" cumed $13 million from 2.2 million admissions at the local boxoffice since its July 28 release.

Pic has also been sold to CP Digital for ex-Soviet territories excluding Baltic States; Lanterna de Pedra Filmes for Portugal, Horizon International for Turkey, and TDH Home Entertainment for the Middle East.

At the AFM, Finecut introduces two upcoming Korean films, "Love Fiction" and "The Grand Heist." Starring Ha Jung-woo ("The Yellow Sea"), "Love Fiction" is a romantic comedy about a novelist who writes a novel based on his own girlfriend, then discovers her mysterious past.
"The Grand Heist" is a period actioner about young people who fight a royal supervisor of ice storage.

Both titles are in production for delivery of spring 2012 by distributor N.E.W.
