YOON Ga-eun
Born in 1982, Seoul, YOON majored in History and Religious Studies at Sogang University. Then she went on and gained work experience in theater and art. Later, she studied at the Korea National University of Arts and majored in Film Directing. She also lectured at film clubs in middle and high schools throughout Seoul. Furthermore, she worked as an educator for children and youths at the Korean Film Museum with much care and interest in media education for children. She has shown her constant interest in the intimate, personal lives of children and adolescents living in the present age and their intrinsic worries and troubles through her works. She is making strong efforts to make films
where children stand tall as the main entities. Her short film, GUEST (2 011) was the first Asian film to win Grand Prix in International Competition section at the 34th International Short Film Festival - Clemont-Ferrand which is often called the ¡®Cannes of short film festivals¡¯. At the 64th Berlin International Film Festival Generation section where the Youth Jury determines the awards, YOON¡¯s short film SPROUT (2013) won the Best Short Film (Crystal Bear) Award.
