ector KIM Tae-yong first began making films as part of an extracurricular class in middle school. As a high school student, while watching a film by the Dardennes brothers at the Busan International Film Festival, he decided to become a film director. In 2010, at the age of 20, his short film FROZEN LAND was invited to the Cinéfondation of the 63rd Cannes Film Festival, making him the youngest Korean director ever to screen a film at Cannes. His subsequent films include SOCIAL SERVICE AGENT, which won Best Film Award in the A City of Sadness - Comments on Society section at the Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival; short film ONE SUMMER NIGHT, which was produced by director RYOO Seung-wan; omnibus film ONE NIGHT ONLY, which he co-directed with director KIM JHO Gwang-soo; a contribution to the omnibus film ROMANCE IN SEOUL, which opened the 2013 Seoul Independent Film Festival; and the screenplay of GHOST, the 30-minute film by RYOO Seung-wan included in the omnibus work MAD SAD BAD. He made his feature debut in 2014 with SET ME FREE, which premiered at the 19th Busan International Film Festival and won the Citizen Critics¡¯ Award and the Actor of the Year Award.
